Sherlock S04E01 - The Six Thatchers

Media info:-

Sherlock waits to see where Moriarty will make his posthumous move. One mysterious case in particular baffles Scotland Yard, but Sherlock is more interested in a seemingly trivial detail. Why is someone destroying images of the late prime minister Margaret Thatcher? Is there a madman on the loose? Or is there a much darker purpose at work? Something with its roots deep in Mary Watson's past...

(with soft subtitles)

First broadcast: 1 Janaury 2017

Carols from King's

A solo chorister sings Once In Royal David's City to begin the traditional celebration of Christmas from the Chapel of King's College, Cambridge.

The world-famous choir, directed by Stephen Cleobury, sings a glorious selection of carols, including Ding! Dong! Merrily on High (Wilberg), The Holly and the Ivy, The Three Kings (Cornelius) and O Come All Ye Faithful.

The Christmas story is told in the words of the King James Bible and in poems by Rowan Williams, Charles Causley and UA Fanthorpe.

First broadcast: 25th December 2016
Duration:  75 minutes

Dawn French Live 30 Million Minutes

Dawn French in her critically acclaimed one-woman show, 30 Million Minutes. Filmed during its final West End run in October 2016, it takes the audience on a journey through various delights and riches, with the odd irksome tribulation thrown in, as Dawn speaks about the lessons life has taught her, and the things she knows to be true. The evidence is there for all to see. She is already three quarters certifiably daft. The other quarter is utterly bewildered. And the remaining quarter simply can't do maths. With a sharp eye for comic detail and a wicked ear for the absurdities of life, this is a true Christmas treat to see the critically acclaimed comedian at her finest.

First broadcast: 31 December 2016
Duration:  Two hours

Britain's Ancient Capital Secrets of Orkney S0E01

Orkney - seven miles off the coast of Scotland and cut off by the tumultuous Pentland Firth, the fastest flowing tidal race in Europe, is often viewed as being remote. But recent discoveries there are turning the stone age map of Britain upside down. Rather than an outpost at the edge of the world, recent finds suggest an extraordinary theory - that Orkney was the cultural capital of our ancient world and the origin of the stone circle cult which culminated in Stonehenge.

In this three-part series, Neil Oliver, Chris Packham, Andy Torbet and Dr Shini Somara join hundreds of archaeologists from around the world who have gathered there to investigate at one of Europe's biggest digs.

Chris Packham uncovers the secrets revealed by the DNA of Orkney's unique vole, Neil Oliver explores Orkney's tombs and monuments, Dr Shini Somara experiments to discover how the Orcadians could have moved giant blocks of stone over rough ground and archaeological adventurer Andy Torbet climbs Orkney's most challenging sea-stack to unlock the story of Orkney's unusual geology.

(with soft subtitles)

First broadcast: 2nd January 2017
Duration:  1 hour
